Father Luke Suarez

With gratitude to both Bishop Caggiano and Monsignor Royal, I look forward to the
opportunity to become part of your parish family. Please, be patient with me as admittedly
I have difficulty remembering names, but I am anxious to meet everyone who makes up the Church of the Holy Spirit Parish family.

Family has always been very important to me. I am the fifth child of ten children and
proud uncle of 38 nieces and nephews (two more on the way!). My father was born in
Cuba, while my mother is of Irish and German descent. My parents both grew up, just
across the Connecticut state line, in New Rochelle, NY. I was born in Michigan City,
IN, and lived in Dover, DE, then in Albany, NY. While attending college at Ave Maria
University in Naples, FL, I intentionally started discerning the vocation of priesthood.
Throughout my discernment, I knew I wanted to be a diocesan priest so that I could to
be part of a parish family.

Just before graduation from college, Bishop Lori accepted me to study as a seminarian
for the Diocese of Bridgeport at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg MD. Ordained
a priest May 14, 2011, I have served as Parochial Vicar at St. Rose of Lima Parish
in Newtown (2011-2014), Chaplain at Notre Dame HS in Fairfield (2014-2017),
and most recently as Parochial Vicar at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Trumbull (2017

Besides woodworking, baking and eating chocolate, my passion has always been the
pursuit of the Truth, as revealed to us by Jesus Christ, and witnessing to the beauty of
this Truth through preaching and accompanying others in living lives of faith. In my ministry as a priest, I consider my most solemn responsibility, the source of my greatest joy,
administering the Sacraments of the Church. I have a profound love of the Most Holy Eucharist
and devotion to the reverent celebration of the Sacrifice of the Mass. I am committed
to being readily available for administering the Sacraments of Healing: the Sacrament of
Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick. Throughout the years, I have been privileged
to work directly with various outreach programs to parishioners of all ages and backgrounds.
I have been particularly active working with several youth groups, attending youth
events, service trips and pilgrimages, including to Poland for World Youth Day. I have especially
enjoyed working in support of the religious formation of families. Recently, I served
as interim DRE at St. Catherine of Siena Parish and was responsible for establishing a new
program and handbook for religious education.

I have often assisted Bishop Caggiano as a Master of Ceremonies, which brought me to
many parishes throughout the diocese, including the Church of Holy Spirit! I had the privilege
of assisting Bishop Caggiano during the Mass of Consecration of your newly renovated
altar and sanctuary. It was a privilege to be a part of such a historic moment in the life of a
great parish family, and your warm welcome made a very deep impression. Trusting in
God's grace and the care of Our Blessed Mother, I look forward to meeting each of you.
Please know you have been and will remain in my daily prayers. I ask you to please keep
me, Msgr. Royal, and both the Church of Holy Spirit and St. Mary's in Ridgefield in your
prayers during this time of transition.
