Holy Spirit Women's Guild

"Making a Difference" Through Mary, Our Mother, Our Model

The Women’s Guild of Holy Spirit Parish promotes devotion to the Blessed Mother through prayer and service.  Canonically established December 18, 1962, the group was originally called The Rosary Altar Society. In August of 1966 the group adopted its current name.  From its inception, the membership indicated interest not only in spiritual matters, but also in social welfare, education, health care, and senior citizens.  Today, the role of the Guild includes service to Birthright, Malta House, Dress for Success, the Haitian-American Religious Community of Stamford, to name a few.  The Guild also has taken on grounds beautification of church property and continues to maintain the altars. All our works are done with joy and dedication.

The Women’s Guild also:
• Encourages deepened spirituality, with guest speakers and off-site retreats
• Assists the pastor whenever needed
• Sponsors various fundraisers for the church and community organizations
• Encourages socialization with all women throughout the parish with various events such as our Biannual Tea, Holiday Luncheon, Jewelry parties, Craft events and Year-end Mass & Dinner.
• Fosters community among the parish through sponsorship of the Advent Wreath Dinner and Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Membership in the Women’s Guild is open to all women of the parish 18 and older.  Annual dues are $20. Look for a blue envelope in your envelope mailer or sign up with our online form.

We would love to meet you. Come to a meeting and then decide if you'd like to join!

cookie swap

In February, we are doing "double duty"!  On February 13th, Wednesday, at 9:30AM, we will meet in Holy Spirit Hall for a presentation by Father Joseph Gill. Fr. Gill's topic is "HOW TO GET MORE OUT OF THE MASS" -sure to be  beneficial and interesting to us all. We all know how terrific his homilies are and we expect to learn to be able to connect even more with the mass and Jesus.

Part 2 of the Feb 13th meeting is a cookie swap.  Since it is the day before Valentine's Day, if you want to do so, the cookie theme can be related to that.  Or, if you have a favorite cookie that shows off your baking skills and to share with the group, that would be wonderful also.   The suggestions for making this a successful swap, are as follows:

1.  bring at least 3 dozen of your favorite homemade (or store bought) goodies.  Or be daring and creative, bring your long-time favorites or try out a new recipe,
2.  bring an index or decorative card with the name of the cookie (and if they contain nuts or some other allergens) on it to place near your pretty plate or cake stand,
3.  and if you are willing to share your recipe, then bring multiple copies of that, too,

Coffee and tea will be available at the start of the meeting.  After Fr. Gill's talk,  cookies will be enjoyed along with a short informal business meeting.

Pretty take home boxes will be supplied, or you can use your own containers so that you leave with 3 dozen ( +/- ) cookies of your choice to share with your friends and family.  Notice the " +/- " sign after the 3 dozen - that is because we will be tasting those yummy goodies and we promised Father Gill that he would leave with a cookie box....and we won't be counting how many he scoops up!  Of course we want to share them  with Monsignor Royal also.

is Saturday, March 9th at 10:30am
in Holy Family Hall.
It is $5.00 to take the
Zumba class, no charge to come and laugh and have fun with your friends.
All women, middle school age and up, are welcome. For those unfamiliar with Zumba, it  involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music such as salsa, flamenco, and merengue. It feels more like a dance party than a workout, which is exactly what makes Zumba so popular. So even if you think you have two left feet plan on coming to this event. Healthy snacks and beverages will be available.
