GRACE BEFORE THANKSGIVING DINNER

IF IT HELPS, here are 2 prayers before Thanksgiving dinner you might consider using.  IF IT HELPS, use one in its entirety.  IF IT HELPS, edit and adapt it to your own traditions of prayer and family. Make copies, tinker with and give thanks to God. A BLESSED THANKSGIVING TO ALL!

 

I.

A                                                                                 Colossians 1:2-12

Grace to you and peace from God our Father.  We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you….that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will…to lead a life worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.  May you be strengthened with all power according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father.

B                                            Psalm 118                                                               
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good,

For his love endures forever.

Let the sons of Israel say”

“His love endures forever.”

Let the sons of Aaron say:

“His love endures forever.”

Let those who fear the Lord say:

“His love endures forever.”

Everyone:

Open to me the gates of holiness:

I will enter and give thanks.

This is the Lord’s own gate

Where the just may enter.

I will thank you for you have answered

And you are my savior.

 

You are my God, I thank you.

My God I praise you.

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good:

For his love endures forever.

which we are about to receive from thy bounty,

And be thankful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…

as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs

with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

And whatever you do, in word or deed,

do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,

giving thanks to God the Father through him.

And all nations learn your saving help.

Women:

Women:

All:

The earth has yielded its fruit

for God, our God, has blessed us.

May God still give us his blessing

till the ends of the earth revere him.
