An Exciting New Religious Education Program For Grades 1-5

Family Faith Formation

Family Faith Formation

What is Family Formation? Family Formation is a tried and true Catholic teaching resource developed by regular parents with normal family lives.  The materials are engaging, down-to-earth, and easy to understand.  Family Formation is meant to bring the family together once a week to learn their Faith in joy and with excitement.

Why Family Formation? All parents want the best for their children and families. This includes knowing, loving, and serving God and their neighbor. In our time, parents have too often been left on the sidelines when it comes to the faith formation of their children. But as the Catholic Church teaches, and parents know deep down, “Parents are the first teachers of their children in the ways of the faith.” Family Formation makes this possible in a very clear and doable way.

So what does this mean for me and my children? Children and their parents gather together once a month for family Catechesis (Note the children are not dropped off for class on their own). For the rest of the month, a home lesson made up of activities, games and short stories, is completed together as a family. The home materials are the same for all grades so there is no need for separate lessons.

Does this really improve the faith formation of my kids or is this just another program? Family Faith Formation has been in existence for about 30 years – enough time for researchers to gauge the results. The results show an improved level of faith, charity and prayer in those families.

What about children in 6th - 8th grades? Their classes are held 2 Sundays per month from 4:00-6:00PM, and are not part of Family Formation, so parents do not attend classes. Please check our parish website for dates.
